When Kelly Moore announced that she would be designing and selling camera bags in December of last year, I knew it was exactly what I was looking for: large enough for my most-used gear, but stylish, so it didn’t look like I was carrying all my gear (and enough pockets for lip gloss, a cell phone and a debit card). I was hesitant to buy one because most of the bags in this category look gigantic on my five-foot frame. The Jill-e bag was OK, but I needed a High Rollover Risk warning tattooed on my forehead. I was like a sixteen-year-old kid driving a Hummer too fast around a corner while texting. Yep, that bad.
Kelly Moore’s hobo bag was still on my wish list, but I just couldn’t muster the guts to buy something that I wasn’t sure would work. Then, my friend Kristi bought one. The exact one I wanted… the blue hobo. The bad side, naturally, was that she bought the exact bag I wanted, completely independently of each other. The good side was that I got to “try it on” before I committed. So, my guts I mustered and made the purchase. I bought my second-favorite color choice, so I wouldn’t be a total copy cat.
I went to Fort Lauderdale on Monday, and airport security seemed like the perfect place to test out the new bag. I received compliments on my “cute purse!” and no one knew I was carrying a few thousand dollars of equipment through a crowded terminal. This could be the start of a beautiful friendship, and we already have our first roadtrip under our belt — and not while texting in a Hummer.
