Back in February, Glenn Weaver decided to use his remarkable talents to benefit a family that he cares about. You’ve probably heard me talk about Bryan and Jenna Britt before — how wonderful they are, how Bryan is struggling, and how you wouldn’t even know it by talking to them. Unlike me, Glenn has known them for the better part of a decade and has been in the majority of the plays that Jenna has directed during his time at Jackson Christian School. Because of that relationship, Glenn decided to plan a play, where all the proceeds would go to Bryan and Jenna. While that original play was scheduled to take place in May, it was postponed because Bryan, unfortunately, was in the ICU — again. The rescheduled date was Saturday.
Those participating in the play came from all over the U.S. because they love Bryan and Jenna. Madison drove in from Denver, another girl flew in from New York, and a few dozen drove in from Nashville, Little Rock and Searcy, Ark., just for them. They started practicing on Friday night, came back at 8 a.m. on Saturday and rehearsed again until the show started. Over 50 of Jenna’s former students were involved, and over 500 people showed up to watch the play to support the Britts. This single event raised over $8,000 for Bryan and Jenna, who weren’t even thinking about the money; they were just overwhelmed for the outpouring of love shown for their family.
When you talk to Bryan, you don’t hear about the misfortune of his situation or about the exhaustion he feels or the pain he’s in. The word you hear over and over again is “blessed.” That’s probably not the first word that would come to most people’s minds, but that just shows what kind of people Bryan and Jenna are.
I was the photographer for the evening, and I’m selling prints from the show here, where, of course, all the money goes directly to Bryan and Jenna. You can buy a DVD of all 263 images for $75. That’s just 26 cents per picture.
It was a beautiful night, and you could feel the love for those two all throughout the auditorium.
