When Kelly Moore announced that she would be designing and selling camera bags in December of last year, I knew it was exactly what I was looking for: large enough for my most-used gear, but stylish, so it didn’t look like I was carrying all my gear (and enough pockets for lip gloss, a cell phone and a debit card). I was hesitant to buy one because most of the bags in this category look gigantic on my five-foot frame. The Jill-e bag was OK, but I needed a High Rollover Risk warning tattooed on my forehead. I was like a sixteen-year-old kid driving a Hummer too fast around a corner while texting. Yep, that bad.
Kelly Moore’s hobo bag was still on my wish list, but I just couldn’t muster the guts to buy something that I wasn’t sure would work. Then, my friend Kristi bought one. The exact one I wanted… the blue hobo. The bad side, naturally, was that she bought the exact bag I wanted, completely independently of each other. The good side was that I got to “try it on” before I committed. So, my guts I mustered and made the purchase. I bought my second-favorite color choice, so I wouldn’t be a total copy cat.
I went to Fort Lauderdale on Monday, and airport security seemed like the perfect place to test out the new bag. I received compliments on my “cute purse!” and no one knew I was carrying a few thousand dollars of equipment through a crowded terminal. This could be the start of a beautiful friendship, and we already have our first roadtrip under our belt — and not while texting in a Hummer.

Back in February, Glenn Weaver decided to use his remarkable talents to benefit a family that he cares about. You’ve probably heard me talk about Bryan and Jenna Britt before — how wonderful they are, how Bryan is struggling, and how you wouldn’t even know it by talking to them. Unlike me, Glenn has known them for the better part of a decade and has been in the majority of the plays that Jenna has directed during his time at Jackson Christian School. Because of that relationship, Glenn decided to plan a play, where all the proceeds would go to Bryan and Jenna. While that original play was scheduled to take place in May, it was postponed because Bryan, unfortunately, was in the ICU — again. The rescheduled date was Saturday.
Those participating in the play came from all over the U.S. because they love Bryan and Jenna. Madison drove in from Denver, another girl flew in from New York, and a few dozen drove in from Nashville, Little Rock and Searcy, Ark., just for them. They started practicing on Friday night, came back at 8 a.m. on Saturday and rehearsed again until the show started. Over 50 of Jenna’s former students were involved, and over 500 people showed up to watch the play to support the Britts. This single event raised over $8,000 for Bryan and Jenna, who weren’t even thinking about the money; they were just overwhelmed for the outpouring of love shown for their family.
When you talk to Bryan, you don’t hear about the misfortune of his situation or about the exhaustion he feels or the pain he’s in. The word you hear over and over again is “blessed.” That’s probably not the first word that would come to most people’s minds, but that just shows what kind of people Bryan and Jenna are.
I was the photographer for the evening, and I’m selling prints from the show here, where, of course, all the money goes directly to Bryan and Jenna. You can buy a DVD of all 263 images for $75. That’s just 26 cents per picture.
It was a beautiful night, and you could feel the love for those two all throughout the auditorium.

I did this shoot of Lucy back in June, but my memory card had a fatal accident that kept it at Lexar’s headquarters for six weeks to recover the images. I finally got them in the mail on Friday. So, even though Lucy is seven and a half months old now, here are some shots from her six-month photo shoot.
These photos are of Lucy and one of my favorite people, her great grandmother.
Too see more photos of Lucy (or to order prints if you’re Lucy’s family), go here.

I know the majority of what I post on here is photography-related. Photography has been a recent hobby of mine that I’ve really gotten into, but it’s not my full-time job. It’s something I enjoy to do on the side at reasonable prices for people because I don’t have to do it full time. On a 40+ hours a week basis, I work as the communications manager for J. P. King, a luxury real estate auction marketing firm. I primarily focus on public relations and social media and tying the two together. When you combine the way PR is changing because of technology and social media along with the fact that I’m dealing with a completely different media base for every event (J. P. King has worked in all 50 states — just this past week, we were in Oregon, Wyoming and Tennessee), it keeps me on my toes, and it’s challenging. Or, it’s challenging to me, at least, but I need that in a job.
Like I mentioned earlier, we were in three states last week, and I worked two of those sales: a luxury estate in the mountains of Big Horn, Wyo., and 18 lofts in Memphis, Tenn. Both went well, as we sold the Wyoming property for $2.09 million and the Pie Factory Lofts for $1.16 million. Here are a few photos to highlight the events.
I could wake up to that view every morning. How about you?
Double H Ranch in Big Horn, Wyoming
Double H Ranch will be the new home of these two. That was on Thursday, and on Saturday, we were in Memphis. The lighting in the ballroom was terrible for photos, so I hope you can excuse the quality.
At each of our events, J. P. King brings in food and a musician. This is Davis with one of our project managers, Grant. We get Davis for as many of our sales as we can. Because he’s awesome.
This is Lanny, one of our finest auctioneers.
And Scott, a forth-generation auctioneer at J. P. King and an agent for this sale.

These are a few shots from an engagement session I did with Kristi of Michael and Nicole, who just so happen to be getting married tomorrow! We did the shoot several weeks ago, but I’ve been so busy with my real job, I haven’t even had time to look at them until now.
The day after the engagement session, we took Nicole’s bridals at an old building in downtown Jackson. The location is awesome, and Nicole looked gorgeous! Except we didn’t know that they didn’t turn the air conditioner on in the building until we were already there. It was ridiculously hot, but Nicole was a good sport — even when I passed out as we were getting ready to leave… Sorry about that, guys.
WordPress is doing something strange with the clarity of these photos and making strange lines, but I hope to figure that out in the next few days and update them. Good luck and best wishes, Nicole and Michael, as you begin your future together!

Last week, I did a fun shoot of John Riley, Audrey Kate and Sanders. Remember those days we had in the South recently with humidity that was so intense that when you walked outside, your lenses would fog up? OK, so maybe not everyone had that problem, but I sure did. We did a few outdoor shots, but the oh-so-hot June weather here was just a bit intense. These were some indoor shots that we did of these three happy kids. Thanks for letting me be a part of the fun, Sullivan family!

After last week’s lost shoot of sweet Lucy, I transferred the Sullivan’s family photos to my computer as soon as the shoot was over. We had a family reunion today after the shoot, so I haven’t had the time to really start editing, but this is one of my favorites from just scanning through. This shows how sweet and happy these children are — even in 95-degree heat and 100 percent humidity!

On Thursday, I had a blast shooting Lucy’s six-month photos. She’s the happiest baby and laughed the whole time. Due to a faulty memory card, though, I lost every photo except this ONE. That’s right, out of 800+ pictures, this is all I have. Lexar claims they’ll be able to get the photos off of it (something four different cameras and three different computers couldn’t do. It even crashed one computer). I should have them in six to eight weeks. For your sake and the sake of my keyboard, I won’t say anything else other than I’m extremely frustrated with Lexar right now.
So, for the next six to eight weeks, imagine a beautiful, happy face on this sweet baby. Maybe she’ll have her six-month pictures before she’s eight months old.

In my first shot at real estate photography, I was asked to shoot a 20,000± square-foot home in Eclectic, Ala. Completed in 2003, this home has five bedrooms spread over four floors with intricate attention to detail with attention to everything from lighting rods to fire hazards to a geo-thermal heating a cooling system. Also appealing to the eye, the home displayed plenty of natural lighting, 14-foot ceilings and top-of-the-line amenities. Combining that with the 850± acres of ponds, hills and forestry it sits on, it truly is a beautiful plantation home. Here’s a few shots.
